Wintershall picks Subsea 7 for inter-platform pipelay

The D15-FA-1 platform.
(4/27/2004 - OGI: London) Subsea 7 reported today that Wintershall Noordzee has awarded it a pipeline installation contact valued at about US$15 million. The contract is for the installation of 4.9 km of 10-inch OD (outer diameter), 13% chrome pipeline between the D12-A and D15-FA-1 platforms in the Netherlands sector of the North Sea in 32-40 meters water depth. In addition, a riser is to be retrofitted to the Gaz de France D15-FA-1 platform. The line pipe will be spooled onto the pipelay vessel at the Subsea 7's Leith spoolbase; the project management and engineering will be undertaken in Aberdeen.
Offshore operations are to be carried out during the third quarter of this year and will include the installation, trenching, and burial of both pipeline and umbilical. Vessels likely to be utilized from the Subsea 7 fleet are the pipelay vessel Skandi Navica, the ROV and survey vessel Seisranger, and a diving support vessel.
Subsea 7's UK vice president, Robin Davies said, "This is an important project for Subsea 7's North Sea operations utilizing our extensive subsea construction capabilities which includes our spoolbase facility at Leith."
