Antarctica must be off limits to oil forever

The scramble to assert sovereignty over a territorial slice of Antarctica by those governments that currently have claims to it grew to a frenzy last year as each sought to establish its rights before the United Nations Commission on Limits of the Continental Shelf before the May 2009 deadline. They've all submitted their cases now for why they should have their sovereignty recognized and are awaiting a determination, but the case for disallowing all of their claims continues to be the strongest argument...continue reading
