Russia's Crimea seizure puts Ukraine Black Sea gas in question

Russian President Vladimir Putin's aggressive ambition to restore some of the components of the old Soviet Union to Russian suzerainty with a blatant invasion of the Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula following the ouster of pro-Russian Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich has been roundly condemned by world leaders.. It smacks of tsarist colonialism during the reign of Peter the Great and shows Putin's intention to "re-Sovietize Russia's periphery", in the words of former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton...⇒⇒⇒
